Watching mystery

As you might know, dear viewer, during some centuries Venice had quite few influences from Arabic culture. It is still visible in many facets of Venetian architecture. For this reason the lamp suits nicely into the painting, also because the masks look quite threatening, but the calmly smoking lamp gives to the whole painting kind of surrealistic irony.
